My hubby of 41+ years retired from his second career 2 1/2 years ago. All the things that I feared before that have not occurred. However -- in the last few months, other issues have popped up. For instance, he is in my hip pocket, treating as though I have no clue what to do. For instance, I was opening the bedroom blinds the other day and he asked me if I needed help.
Uhhhh -- let's see. We got married and 6 weeks later, he left for a six-month deployment with the USN. I have learned how to do some minor carpentry (built a sewing table for myself), rewire lamps, fix leaky plumbing, hang new light fixture and lamps. And deal with ER doctors.
Did I really need help with the blinds? I don't think so.
I have told him several times lately -- he changed his world, I didn't. He needs to learn to fit into my domain -- not I, his. And I outrank him.
Love him dearly. But we both have to learn to deal with this.
